The Slovak Explorer Home Page |
Welcome to Jason's Explorer Home Page This Web site features my FANTASTIC 1997 5.0l V8 AWD Ford Explorer and eventually will include general tips and links for off-roading that I've gathered from research and from experience. Also check out our other picture site at http://www.slovakexplorerpics.50megs.com Bought 1st September, 2004 Car spec, is OHC 5.0 liter V8 engine delivering around 215 horse at 4200rpm (thats what the book says anyway). Full stock specification, full leather, air-con, 6xCD changer, great stereo. All the usual bits youd expect to normally find in an executive road car, but with all the fun of off-road all wheel drive. I dont know much about it yet, but from what I've read, it runs in rear wheel drive and gives power to front wheels automatically as needed. I'll add more info here later. . . . . dont forget to check back. Problems so far 4th September, 2004 - our first trip out, got stuck in amud hole and had to be towed out by a tractor. The Mitsubishi 4x4 tore through a 2-ton and a 4 ton tow rope trying to get us out before calling pal with a 9ton steel reinforced tow rope. After spinning the wheels on the tractor for 10 minutes, he finally got us out. 11th September, 2004 - Water hose burst - nothing major, there is 5 inch (125mm) long 90 degree angle hose dealing with the water cooling system from the radiator. It burst and we blew 8 liters of water just to get 4km to get a replacement. Loads of steam as the water evaporated off the hot engine. Dont really know what to put here, I'd be greatful for any thoughts sent to jason.hunter@europe.com |
